General Membership Meeting
Jul 12 2016
Meeting called to order at 5:00 pm by Vice President John Moynihan – President Richard Stamm was out of town.
Minutes for Jun 14 2016 meeting were approved.
Tip from the Pro (Kenny Everson)
As the weather heats up the greens dry out and become ‘crusty’. Approach shots
to the green become a little more ‘touchy’. A rule of thumb: If you are trying to
reach:
Front of the green – use a 60o wedge
Middle – use a sand wedge
Back – use a wedge
Accelerate through the shot with ‘soft hands’ – dead right hand – allow the club to
release. The trajectory will be lofted and the ball will land softly.
Treasurer’s Report
We now have 126 paid members.
Starting balance: $966.18, 2 new members, Ending balance:$986.18
News From the Course (Dean Wood)
We’re done sprigging, the new greens are growing in.
Gary and crew are concentrating on the back nine reconstruction, as such, the
front nine will get more attention when they are more along with the back (Irrigation
fixes, etc.)
Old Business
Clarification of Lift, Clean and place (Local Rule, Item #3). As front nine improves,
the blanket Lift Clean and Place through each green (closely mown areas) will be
amended to conform with improving conditions.
Dean Wood reviewed results from Lexington Tournament. There was an incident
where a player did not play by the Rules of Golf (did not Putt out). This was a
tournament and was announced as such. It was too late for Dean to do anything
about it, but he reiterated the need to follow the rules as described by each
tournament’s director.
New Business
Next Tournament is Midland Valley – Ken Sabol reviewed the format and details.
Following Midland Valley tournament is The Reserve at Woodside – Director Ray
Naramore. It will be a team score event.
Bill Todd suggested the MGA consider purchasing an ice maker and ice chests for
the carts. After some discussion a next step was proposed: Contact Gary to see if
there is interest – if so, we will determine cost and ways to raise the funds.
Mike Lupfer suggested the MGA solicit donations from the membership to give to
all the guys that helped with the Golf Course reconstruction. An email will be sent
asking for donations to be received NLT Aug 8.
Meeting was adjourned at 5:40 pm.
