The meeting was called to order at 5:00 pm by acting president Ken Brace. There were approximately 15 members in attendance.
Tip from the Pro (Kenny Evenson): Kenny’s tip of the day was putting. He talked about rhythm of the stroke and how a putting stroke should take about 1 second no matter how long a putt it is. The length of the stroke is the only thing that changes.
Ken Brace called for a motion to approve the minutes from the meeting of March 14, 2007. The motion was seconded and approved.
Treasurer’s Report (Don Kasper): The balance as of April 1,2007 was $1854.18 The 50/50 added $23.00 last month and the balance of the 50/50 is $272.00 The current treasury balance is $1901.89
Old Business: Ray Naramore reviewed the results of the Cedar Creek tournament held on April 19th. There were 39 participants and prizes were awarded to 20 for a 51% payout. In addition there were 17 players in the skins game with 6 skins being won.
New Business: The Silver Bluff Scramble was discussed. It will be held on Thursday, May 18th @ 4:00 pm. We have 8 Silver Bluff Golf Team players and 16 Cedar Creek MGA members.
The Josh Ray tournament will be held on Saturday, June 3rd. It will be a 4 person scramble. You can sign up at the pro shop.
Dean Wood explained that Jim McNair wants to put cedar posts with hole marker plaques at each hole which would cost close to $4000.00. Dean made a motion that the MGA contribute $1200.00 from our treasury towards this effort. Ray Naramore seconded the motion. This motion needs to be voted on by the general membership at our next meeting before it can be passed. Of course, in addition, any individual can contribute to this fund as well. Dean will send out an e-mail to all the MGA members with more information.
Orangeburg CC Dean Wood is setting up a tournament at Orangeburg Country Club for August 10th (rain date is August 17th). The cost will be $60 consisting of $46 green fees and $14 prize fund. It will be a straight net golf tournament with winners in each flight. Tournament costs must be paid to the course at least two weeks in advance. Dean will send out a notice as to when you can sign up and it will be a first come, first serve based on time stamp on your e-mail.
Saturday, 5/13 is the community golf tournament. Mike D. will contact alternates who previously signed up if needed .
Frank Beaty was asked what the #1 thing he needed help with on the course. His response was for everyone to fix divots and ball marks.
Bill Todd said he suspects that someone is practicing after hours on #5, #8, and #15 and is leaving many divots on the tees. If you see something or someone let Bill Todd know and he will take appropriate action.
50/50 Raffle This week with the low membership turn out the 50/50 was worth $20 to our lucky winner, Don Kasper and $20 to our treasury.
