General Membership Meeting

Meeting called to order at 5:00 pm by President John Moynihan.
Minutes for May 2017meeting were approved.
Tip from the Pro (Kenny E.) Getting out of green-side bunkers.
In the past, Tour players would open their sand wedges way up and swing very
hard; current wisdom is to maintain the design loft of your wedge and hit slightly
behind the ball taking a much more relaxed swing with ‘regular’ swing speed. Try
practicing in a bunker by taking swings without a ball down - just feel the club
passing through the sand with the goal of flying a bit of the sand out of the bunker.
Then try it with a ball.

We now have 122 paid members.

Rules Review
Bill Robinson explained what he does as a rules official at various tournaments,
how he became a rules official and what he carries with him on a ‘typical’
tournament day.
Old Business
We reviewed the results of the Pine Ridge Golf Outing.
New Business
A motion to donate $1,200.00 to Jim McNair to be used to erect signs for each
hole (like @ AGC) was brought to the floor. The motion was approved.
Dean Wood announced the date / time, price and format for the upcoming
tournament at Greenwood Golf Club.
Future MGA tournaments were announced – tentative dates, etc.

Aug 10 – Orangeburg
Sep 5 – River Club

50/50 Drawing
