General Membership Meeting
December 10, 2013
Meeting called to order at 5:04 pm by President Ken Brace.
The Minutes of the November 2013 meeting were approved.
Don Kasper gave the Treasurer’s Report:
We currently have 99 members
Current balance is $1294.14
Recent expenses included $50 for a gift for Christine (a former worker at the Grille)’s baby shower, and the cost of the plaque for the annual Match Play Tournament.
NEWS FROM THE COURSE:
Vice-President Frank Beaty updated the current status of the golf course.
Members are encouraged to fix ball marks on the overseeded greens and to rake the bunkers when necessary.
Stump grinding and clean-up is proceeding on the back nine. This work has been completed on the front nine.
The driving range has been overseeded. Members are advised to stay between the ropes and hit toward the range, not the chipping areas. There are no plans to add lights to the range; this is only a rumor.
The main issue raised by Cedar Creek members from the survey conducted by Jim McNair is that there needs to be more communication from the owner to the membership about his plans for the golf course. Currently, Mr. McNair is waiting on a go-ahead from his bank to fund the re-do of the front nine. If this plan goes forward, the front nine would close in May and re-open in October. The plan includes all new greens, all new grass for the first cut of fairways, new, larger tee boxes, and a rebuild, with new drainage of all bunkers. The aim is to make the course more senior friendly and more enjoyable to play. If this plan goes forward, Mr. McNair would make the Aiken Golf Course available as an alternate and would block tee times there for Cedar Creek members. Players club dues would be adjusted accordingly.
President Brace also announced a change in the root rule. Bill Robinson informed him that the USGA has announced that relief from roots is now permissible if the condition occurs in a closely mown area and is deemed to be an abnormal ground condition.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:24 pm and was followed by an exchange of Christmas gifts among the membership.
Respectfully submitted,
Ken Sabol
