The Minutes of the July 2014 meeting were approved.
Don Kasper gave the Treasurer’s Report:
We currently have 127 members and a balance of $764.31in the treasury.
The only additional projected expenses are $160 for flowers and bagpiper for the annual Crystal Cup memorial service in September.
Projected year-end balance is $604.31
TIP OF THE DAY:
Kenny Evenson’s tip of the day was how to hit from green-side heavy rough. Get the club up into the air and leave the wrists cocked.
NEWS FROM THE COURSE:
Vice-President Frank Beaty updated the current status of the golf course.
The new practice putting green at the driving range has been sanded and mowed already. Construction on the building next to it will commence momentarily.
The current practice putting green is also in better shape now than it has been all year.
We still need to encourage people to use the driving range correctly. A suggestion was made to put signs up at the range instructing in correct technique.
OLD BUSINESS:
The results of the July tournament at Mount Vintage and the August tournament at Forest Hills were presented. Details are on the website.
The Crystal Cup will be held this year on September 19 at Cedar Creek. The MGA will again pay for flowers and a bagpiper at the annual memorial service. Dave King is looking for volunteer videographers to video the service from different angles. He will assemble all the videos into a single video to be posted on the website. Call Dave if you can help.
The September tournament is a double-header consisting of a round at Forest Hills on September 15 and a round at the River Club on September 17. Payouts will be made at the October meeting at the Community Center, where refreshments will be served. Women are also invited to play in the event, but will have a separate tournament and prize fund. All details, including costs, are on the website.
The annual Sammie Hawkins Tournament will be held in October, with a date to be announced.
The MGACC Match Play Tournament will held on November 14-16, 2014. Limit is 32 players.
