General Membership Meeting
November 11, 2014
Meeting called to order at 5:02 pm by President Ken Brace.
The Minutes of the October 2014 meeting were approved.
Byron Vanier gave the Treasurer’s Report:
We currently have 52 members and a balance of $1094.06 in the treasury.
TIP OF THE DAY:
Kenny Evenson demonstrated techniques for hitting short chip shots. One key is maintaining one’ s rhythm.
NEWS FROM THE COURSE:
Vice-President Frank Beaty updated the current status of the golf course.
The waste bunkers on holes 13 and 14 have been changed and repaired.
The course staff will be doing additional clean up operations this winter.
No new information is yet available about the possible renovation of the course.
RULES UPDATE:
George Montgomery went over the rule differences between stroke play and match play.
OLD BUSINESS:
The annual Sammie Hawkins Tournament, held on October 25, was won by Barry Cox and Barb Armstrong.
The MGACC Match Play Tournament will held on November 14-16, 2014. Limit is 32 players. Details are on the website. The final match will be 18 holes this year, and the MGA will pay the cart fee for participants in the semifinals and finals.
The December tournament will be held at Gordon Lakes on December 11. Cost is $45 and includes range balls, golf, lunch, and prize money. The format will be straight golf.
The MGA purchased a new ice cooler for the clubhouse and has a new club-washer on order for the driving range.
NEW BUSINESS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:
The next meeting is on Tuesday, December 9.
