The MGA-CC General Membership meeting was called to order by President Ken Brace at 5:00 p.m. in the Grille Room at the Cedar Creek Golf Club.
The Minutes of the February general membership meeting were accepted and approved.
Membership/Financial Report: Don Kasper reported that there are currently 116 paid members. The organization currently has a balance of $1442.31 with no bills scheduled to be paid this month. The financial report was accepted and approved.
News from the course:
Frank Beaty reported that it is expected that the front nine will be cleared of debris by this Friday and then it is on to the back nine. Gary is getting ready to begin irrigation of the course.
Gary is looking for volunteers to help pile up small debris so his crew can pick up the piles and remove them from the course. You will need just a rake, no heavy work will be required. The volunteers are needed on Monday, 3/17 at 8:00 AM and again on Tuesday, 3/25 at 8:00 AM. You can just show up on either or both dates.
Jim McNair has stated that Gary is in charge of the clean up – please give him your support.
Note: When the Cedar Creek Emergency Management Team needed help, the course was quick to lend saws and other equipment to help clear up trees and other debris to open up roads and driveways.
Dave King showed a video on how to properly use the driving range to minimize excessive divots. It will be posted on the Web Site if you missed it.
Tip of the Day:
Kenny Everson gave tips for getting out of both greenside and fairway bunkers. For hitting out of greenside bunkers you will need to hit twice as hard as if you were on the fairway the same distance away from the pin. A tip for hitting out of a fairway bunker you may want to consider using a hybrid vs a long iron if required.
Kenny’s clinics for both men and women start this month. Be sure to take advantage of his expertise.
Houndslake Tournament:
The tournament will be held on Monday, 3/24 with a 9:00 AM shotgun start. The cost is $40.00 which includes prize money of $10.00. It has been decided (contrary to what is posted on the Web) to allow players to submit their own foursomes.
To date there is 21 men and 10 ladies signed up.
New Business:
One of our friends and golfing member Steve Van Deren passed away recently. Ken Brace suggested that we give a donation to one of the charities that Steve’s family had indicated he wanted.
Don’t forget the work days on the course – Monday, 3/17 at 8:00 AM and Tuesday, 3/25 at 8:00 AM.
Announcements:
Jim McNair has purchased new furniture for what was the “members room”. There is talk of making the room into a pub room with dart boards etc.
Don’t forget to post your scores. This makes it fair for both you and your competitors.
Adjourn:
The meeting was adjourned at 5:40 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Ray Naramore
