GACC 2021 $1,0000,000 Shootout Rules and Process
The Golf Association at Cedar Creek will hold a Par Three Closest to the Pin Shootout one week prior to our year-end home tournament on October 23, 2021. Only GACC members are eligible for the shootout. The winner of the shootout will have the opportunity to make one shot to attempt to make a hole-in-one. The prize for the hole-in-one is $1,000,000.
The Shootout will be held on Hole No. 8 at Cedar Creek, in the afternoon around 3:00 PM, one week before the October Tournament. Men will play from the black tees distance and the Ladies from the red tees distance.
Participants in our tournaments will have their names placed in a hat at each event. Five to twelve names will be drawn from the hat at each event to select members eligible to participate in the shootout. Names have already been drawn from the participants in the February Par Three Tournament and the tournament at West Lake in April. A list of the members already selected and eligible for the shootout is attached. There are two scheduled events prior to the October Tournament, on August 21st and September 20th, at which five more names will be drawn at each tournament. Two weeks prior to the October 23 Tournament we will draw 12 names from those signed up for the October Tournament to fill the remaining positions for a total of 32 participants. Everyone please sign up early.
Bracket positions will be established, numbered 1 through 32. Just prior to the Shootout, the numbers will be placed in a hat and each participant will draw a number for their position in the bracket and thus establish their opponent. Should a member not show up for whatever reason, the player in the opposing bracket location will draw a bye.
The first three rounds will be two person matches. The closest to the pin (on or off the green) moves on to the next bracket and the loser is eliminated. When there are only four player remaining, all four will hit one shot and the furthest from the hole is eliminated. Next the remaining three players will hit one shot and again the furthest from the hole is eliminated. The final two players will play three matches. The winner of two out of three matches will determine the overall winner of the Shootout and be the person that is eligible to take the one shot for a $1,000,000 Hole-in-one. A hole-in-one during the Shootout only means you move to the next match unless your opponent also makes a hole in one, then the match will be repeated, as will be the case for all ties during the Shootout.
The GACC will purchase insurance to cover the prize money. The insurance company will provide the rules and conditions for the one shot for the hole-in-one. The rules and conditions for the contest will be made available as soon as the insurance company provides the details.
Bring your lawn chairs and coolers so we can have a large gallery of spectators to cheer for the participants. We can’t build bleachers this year but who knows maybe one day….
