GACC Update - Keeping it Safe

9/28/2020

Fellow GACC Members,

As outside temperatures cool and more people head indoors, the CDC is warning us that we may see an “up-tick” of Covid-19 cases. With that in mind, now is a great time to review some information about Covid-19 safety as it relates to your golf activities.

Do not assume the cart you select is 100% sterilized. Our Cedar Creek crew does a great job of keeping the carts clean and ready to go, but it is still wise to bring your own sanitizer supplies to do a “second sweep”. Clorox wipes or similar products are a great way to wipe down any surfaces you may touch during your round of golf.

It would be nearly impossible for golf course employees to sanitize surfaces each time they are touched by fellow employees and or patrons. Beside the golf cart itself, it is a great idea to wipe down railings, doorknobs and other hard surfaces that you are near or have come in contact with.

Wearing face masks while golfing can be impractical, so if you need to cough or sneeze, do it into your elbow. There are a lot of allergens out there this time of year, so be prepared.

Please visit the South Carolina Golf Association (scgolf.org) to view their guidelines for playing golf during the Covid19 outbreak. They address things like touching the flagstick, rakes in the bunkers, etc.

When golf outings are held at Cedar Creek, Mike D. and his staff will stage golf carts spaced appropriately to enable proper social distancing. As we wait for the outing to commence, practice safe social distancing and remember to wear your face mask.

Seating under the pavilion has been arranged to promote correct social distancing. When entering the pavilion, please wear a face mask until you are seated.

Wear face masks before and after your round. This includes when you are inside the Pro Shop, pre- round gatherings and post-round scoring, etc.

A recurring theme here is facemasks, facemasks, facemasks. The CDC has suggested they are the single best way to reduce the threat of Covid19. The main reason we wear face masks is not to protect ourselves, but to protect others. Please be considerate of your fellow golfers.

If we are diligent and courteous, our efforts will pay off. The sooner we learn to deal with this virus, the quicker a safe outcome will be realized.

Thank You!
